Books

'The Handler series of World War Two novels follow the fortunes of its two principal characters - English-born German spy, Howard Wesley, and MI5 agent, Albert Stokes. It is a time in European history which, beyond the headlines, is rich in seldom told tales and little-known events. Terry plunders deep into these fascinating pockets and forges a narrative which is skilfully woven around fact and fiction.

4) Was the ending satisfying?

5) Would you recommend to someone who reads this kind of story?

Here are the responses from Handler's three readers . . .

Reader 1

High praise for this book – excellent! It is well written with a commanding style, expertly formulated plot and intriguing characters. Needless to say, the topic is gripping; yet another facet of the horrific war. I appreciate all the research that went into this. Being American, and my father not talking about his war experience, I learn something new every time I read about it.

The historical notes at the end added the necessary touch; fascinating that Mr Wilkinson is related to the original factory owner. No wonder the book is written with such authority and confidence. I look forward to reading more from Mr Wilkinson – very accomplished writing and a pleasure to read.

Congratulations and thank you!

Reader 2

An unusual wartime story that was a great read.

I enjoyed following the stories of the different characters that became involved in espionage, even more so when I read the Author’s notes to find so much of the events factual.

Reader 3

An enjoyable read. Could see this story as a film or tv series.
