Anglo-German spy, Howard Wesley is woken from his dormant status in London by his Abwehr masters in Hamburg. His brief – to find and repatriate Deputy Führer, Rudolf Hess, who has parachuted into Scotland on a peace-keeping mission. Hitler sees him as a traitor and is seeking retribution.
What Wesley does not anticipate is his enforced collaboration in the task with another German spy of English heritage – former London criminal, Eric Vaughan. Matters become even more complicated when he also identifies a Fifth Columnist cell of serving RAF airmen with the same aim - to seize Hess. As another German agent, Kurt Hasler, suddenly enters the fray, the die is cast for a tense climax on a sunny Sunday afternoon - somewhere in Surrey.
